How to keep your pipes from freezing

Writer's picture: Daniel VerenchukDaniel Verenchuk

I used to live in Russia where freezing pipes are very common. The secret is to make sure that your crawl space or basement are naturally heated. What do I mean by that? Make sure all the doors or vents into the basement or crawlspace are closed and cold air is not getting in. Also you could use some products like this one https://www.walmart.com/ip/Frost-King-HC12A-12-feet-Long-Electric-Heating-Cable-Kit-For-Water-Pipes/21950050?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1140&adid=2222222227721950050_117755028669_12420145346&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-306310554666&wl5=9014308&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=21950050&wl13=1140&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&&adid=2222222223721950050_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-306310554666&wl5=9014308&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=21950050&veh=sem&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtaOtBhCwARIsAN_x-3K5VplWD0LSbR1tXRpeBZLT7q9IaVZ-gdofVFsJ9gVLLeCtcZbWlhQaAlHrEALw_wcB to keep your pipes warm. If the water is freezing anyway then you will have to let watter drip or slowly run from your faucets. It would help to insulate the pipes but it can be costly.

Good luck and stay warm.
